Batch Of 19-21 At SITM Was Welcomed In Style
Do you still remember the time when you were a little kid and you just started with your school? Remember how you used to be so excited to go to school and then suddenly felt so homesick as soon as you reached there? Well, 23 years later, in June 2019, I have joined my MBA college, and guess what, it still feels the same. I still feel like a little girl who wants to conquer the world, but simultaneously feels a little lost in the crowd. The past month has been a roller coaster ride with a mix of fun and stressful moments. And all you look for, during this time is ‘support’. Someone, who went through this exact situation and made it through. And who could these people be? No kudos on this one. Undoubtedly, it has to be your immediate seniors.
As Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management is an entirely student-driven institute, the first set of people our batch met on the very first day, was our seniors. The batch address was called for the first time and there I saw those confident and bright faces. And I finally thought that these are the people I need to look up to. No doubt, to ensure the fulfillment of the college rules and regulations they had to be a little strict. But it was only because of their support and positive criticism, that the entire batch was so easily molded into what was expected out of it. To be honest, there was also a time when people were scared to talk to the seniors. This might sound funny but it did happen. But as we got to know each other, things began improving. And now I, along with my all batchmates are getting more and more comfortable with the seniors day by day. And the credit for this goes to the ‘Ice-Breaking Session’.
This session was organized by one of the college committees to welcome and warm up the conversations between the senior and the junior batch by the means of sports activities.
It is rightly said that ‘Indians bond over sports and tea’. The four-day-long sessions helped everyone to comfortably interact with each other, by participating in various games like Badminton, Table-tennis, Squash and also Counter-Strike. It was great to see the competitive spirit amongst people who appreciated the healthy competition. It was one of those moments when the junior batch was cheering for the senior batch players and the seniors were constantly motivating the junior batch players to do better.
All one could see in those rooms were happy faces. The joy of participating in sports activities and just interacting with their college mates delighted everyone. There were a lot many people who came in, just to boost up the confidence of the participants. The support from the crowd and the seniors made the junior batch feel at home.
I am really glad that this Ice-Breaking session was organized and everyone could be a part of it. Also, there could not have been a better way to bridge the gap between the seniors and the juniors. I hope we can continue doing things like these, to foster collaboration amongst all the students at SITM for the holistic development of the students and the institute as one unit.
